MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
Emergency Action
- CALL CAMPUS SAFETY AT x72000 or (909) 607-2000.
During a medical emergency good communication is as important as the first-aid rendered. From the information passed from the caller to Campus Safety to the EMT’s, each step in the communications process is vital to the well being of the victim. When calling Campus Safety, be prepared to give this information about the victim:
- Any unusual signs
- Age and sex
- Your name
- Location and extension where you are calling from.
- CHECK AND ENSURE AREA IS SAFE TO OCCUPY.
- DO NOT MOVE VICTIM UNLESS DIRECTED TO DO SO.
- CHECK VICTIM FOR BREATHING. IF NOT BREATHING, OPEN VICTIM’S AIRWAY. IF FIRST-AID IS APPROPRIATE, FOLLOW FIRST-AID GUIDELINES IN THE NEXT PAGES UNTIL MEDICAL PERSONNEL ARRIVE.
NOTE: All Campus Safety officers, student center managers, and resident assistants are first-aid and CPR certified. |
